Lower low

A swing low that sits below the previous swing low, one of the two building blocks of a downtrend.

A lower low forms when a decline ends below the bottom of the decline before it. It shows that sellers pushed price further than last time.

On Chartora’s charts swing lows are daily closes lower than the four closes on each side, so a lower low is confirmed only four sessions after it forms.

Paired with lower highs, lower lows describe a downtrend. When both the latest swing high and the latest swing low are no higher than the ones before, Chartora reads the structure as down.
