Trend structure
The pattern of recent swing highs and swing lows, used to describe a market as trending up, trending down or ranging.
Trend structure reads direction from swing points rather than from a single price move. Higher highs with higher lows describe an uptrend; lower highs with lower lows describe a downtrend.
Chartora compares the two most recent swing highs and the two most recent swing lows. If the newer high and the newer low are both higher, the structure is up. If neither is higher, it is down. Any mix of the two is read as a range.
Structure changes only when a new swing point is confirmed, so it reacts later than price itself. That delay is the cost of filtering out day-to-day noise.
