Glossary
Higher low
A swing low that sits above the previous swing low, showing that buyers stepped in sooner on the latest pullback.
A higher low forms when a pullback ends above the bottom of the pullback before it. It suggests that buyers were willing to pay more than last time before the decline stopped.
On Chartora’s charts, swing lows are daily closes lower than the four closes on each side, so a higher low is a comparison between two such confirmed closes.
Higher lows together with higher highs describe an uptrend. When a market keeps making higher lows but fails to make a higher high, traders often describe the move as losing strength rather than reversing.
